LCG Lantech, Inc. began with the vision of company founder, John E. Larsen, Jr. Our doors opened on August 1, 1993 under the name Larsen Associates. Filled with an entrepreneurial spirit, John set out on his own, opening a one-man shop providing civil and structural engineering.
As an Alaska Native of Aleut heritage, John’s mission focused on providing engineering services to Rural Alaska. From docks and roads linking communities together, to rural infrastructure projects delivering clean water and improving sanitation needs, to community facilities offering a place for young and old to gather, to schools…because he placed the highest value on young minds, to providing affordable housing.
In 1994, the company changed its name to Larsen Engineering and added architectural and land survey disciplines. In 1998, the company name was changed to Larsen Consulting Group to reflect our expanded service base. Through the next 10 years, we brought together the team of skilled personnel that lead our management and design team. In 2008, Wallace Swanson, LCG’s Principal Architect and Vice President took over leadership of daily operations. In 2010, John stepped down from leadership of the company and Wally assumed the position of President.
In October 2010, LCG Lantech’s founder and CEO, John E. Larsen, Jr., passed away due to an unfortunate accident. With his passing, shares of the company were shifted to remaining principals. As such, after 17 years in business as a native-owned and managed firm, we entered a new phase without Alaska Native Ownership status. Management and lines of authority remained unchanged. Our core team has been working together, serving our clients and delivering projects for more than 16 years. This continuity of the management team is a great part of LCG’s success.
At the end of 2013, we moved into our new office located in Downtown Anchorage. In 2014, we launched an expansion to our survey department with the acquisition of Lantech. For more than 35 years, Lantech has provided planning services, land surveying, subdivision design and construction surveying for clients throughout Alaska.
From Larsen Associates to LCG Lantech, new name, new location…same great service.
John’s influence as the founder of LCG remains steadfast. His desire to serve Rural Alaska and Alaska’s First Peoples shaped the direction of our corporation, our market segments and the types of projects we perform. His legacy lives on in the communities and peoples whose lives have been bettered through the projects he helped design and engineer. We honor his memory by continuing his legacy, connecting Alaska and all Alaskans.

Throughout the years our firm has held several preference certifications including status an Alaska Native Owned and Managed Firm, Small Disadvantaged Business Enterprise and as an 8(a) Contractor. Since 2010, LCG Lantech has been operating as a Small Business Enterprise.
